On time и In time. At the end и In the end



On time означает вовремя. Если что-то происходит "on time", это происходит в запланированное время:

  • The 11.45 train left on time.
  • "I'll meet you at 7.30." "OK, but please be on time."
  • The conference was well-organised. Everything began and finished on time.
  • Противоположное значение к on time имеет late:
  • Be on time. Don't be late.

Быть in time к чему-то или сделать что-то in time означает вовремя, не опаздывая:

  • Will you be home in time for dinner?
  • I've sent Emma a birthday present. I hope it arrives in time.
  • I'm in a hurry. I want to be home in time to see the game on television.
  • Антонимом in time является too late:
  • I got home too late to watch the game online.
  • Вы можете сказать just in time что значит как раз вовремя:
  • We got to the station just in time for our train.

At the end (of ...) означает в момент окончания чего-либо.

  • Антонимом at the end (of ...) является at the beginning (of ...):
  • I'm going away at the beginning of January.

In the end означает "в результате".
